Some info about our local contest. The first "Mr. Tulsa Leather" contest was held in the fall of 1991 as a feeder for the State Leather contest, then titled Mr. Oklahoma Leatherman. Created and produced by Roy Wilcoxson, of The Tool Box. The winner of the original contest, Mr. Tulsa Leather 92 was Mike Bennett, well known for his erotic, arousing artwork. Ron Greenwood, Mr. Tulsa Leather 93, continued to produce and promote for many years thereafter.
Randy Wheeler stepped in to the role of producer/promoter in September 2001. He later asked Ron to allow him to continue this role and after careful consideration, the contest was moved to March. This was done for many reasons. The least of which was to better allow the title holder to have more time to build a rapport with the community and to prepare for the state contest now called Oklahoma Mr. Leather. The result, we now have two different times of the year in Tulsa, when climate better allows us to wear our Leather comfortably.
The timing of moving the contest, however, put the title year showing 2003, in the majority of 2002. Hence the changing of the name at this time to "Tulsa Mr. Leather". We still carry and maintain the pride of Leather established by Roy and The Tool Box those short years ago.
Ron Greenwood resumed the role of Producer in November 2007. The T.M.L. contest is one of the favorite events of Spring here in Tulsa, Ok.
Thank you for checking out our site, and please come on out to the 2009 contest, and cheer on the competitors, Saturday, April 4th 2009!!
